Holiday celebrations in the classroom can be so much fun – but also stress-inducing. Like, do you really need to add one more thing to your plate?! As a busy teacher, you need activities that are engaging yet easy to implement. So I got you covered! Here are five delightful Valentine’s Day classroom activities that will keep your students entertained while reinforcing learning.

1. Valentine’s Day Themed Writing Crafts
Encourage your students to express their thoughts and creativity with Valentine-themed writing prompts! Use writing activities that include cute craft toppers to display their work as part of your February decorations.
I’ve got 3 different Valentine writing craftivity packs available that are so low prep – just print and go! Each one includes brainstorm maps to help students get thinking creatively, practice sentence pages, and final draft sheets for their polished writing. Each pack also includes craft toppers that students get to choose from to make their work so fun to display!
2. Valentine’s Day Party Scoot Game
Students LOVE party scoot games! Transform your Valentine’s Day party into a hilarious, get-your-wiggles-out experience with a Valentine Party Scoot Game! For Kindergarten and 1st Grade, I recommend doing the task cards as a center where an adult can read the cards and the students follow the action.
For 2nd-5th grade, play it as “Scoot” is normally played, where you have a card at each desk or placed at different spots around the room. Then play music while they do the action their card says for 10-15 seconds or so. And when the music stops, they freeze, then move to the next card.
My done-for-you Valentine Party Scoot Game is a teacher-favorite! Here’s what teachers say about it:
“My students love moving around the room and when I found this Scoot activity I knew we had to try it. It was a huge hit!” – Kortney
“This was a huge hit with my students! I will use this every year from now on.” – Patricia
3. Google Slides Templates for Reviews and Games
Digital activities can be a lifesaver for a busy teacher! Use Valentine’s Day themed Google Slides templates to create fun student activities and review games that keep the whole class engaged. These interactive activities could include:
- Valentine’s Day Virtual Escape Room: Create a series of puzzles where students must solve math or literacy challenges to “unlock” the next slide. Each slide reveals a new clue leading to a final Valentine’s Day-themed surprise!
- Valentine’s Day “Would You Rather”: Design a slideshow with fun “Would You Rather?” Valentine’s Day-themed questions (e.g., “Would you rather receive a box of chocolates or a giant teddy bear?”). Students can vote or discuss their choices.
- Valentine’s Day Jeopardy-Style Review Game: Use a Google Slides template with clickable categories and questions covering topics like vocabulary, math problems, and Valentine’s Day trivia. Use any relevant trivia/skills you’ve been working on recently as a class.
I have multiple Valentine-themed slide templates available that would make these activities so much fun! Just add your content to the already-stunning slide designs and you’re ready to go!

4. DIY Valentine’s Day Activities with Minimal Prep
Create a Valentine’s Day kindness chain! Gather red, pink, and white construction paper and cut each sheet into strips: 1 inch wide and 8.5 inches long. If you’re using standard size paper, you can just rotate it horizontally and cut 11 strips out of each sheet. Use a paper cutter if you have one for the quickest way to cut them! Or have students cut their own out. Cut enough strips so students get 5-10 pieces each.
Next, have students write a kind note on each strip. You can give them prompts to write from, and you can have them write about specific students or things they love about their whole class! You could even split them into groups or tables, and have them write one kindness strip about each person in their group or at their table. Here are some prompt ideas:
- “You are a great friend because…”
- “I love how you always…” (i.e. make me laugh!)
- “You make me smile when…”
- “Thank you for always…”
- “You’re really good at…” [subject or skill]
- “One thing I appreciate about you is…”
- “You are special because…”
- “A time you helped me was…”
- “I admire the way you…”
- “You have a great talent for…”
- “Something I love about our class is…”
Instead of “you” in the above prompts, you could instruct students to write specific names of other students. Making sure all students have something written about them of course!

Finally, assemble the chain and display it! Form the first strip into a loop and secure it with tape, glue, or a stapler. Then thread the next strip through and secure it, continuing until you have a long chain that each student contributed to! Hang the chain around the classroom, on a bulletin board, or around a doorway to spread positivity all month! This would be a great activity to do in preps too, like library or computer, etc. Your chain would include kindness strips from the whole school!
