This is a fun story from the perspective of the turkey that runs from hiding place to hiding place in order to escape his fate as Thanksgiving nears! It makes for a fun read aloud that students can be involved in and participate in the story telling by yelling, “Run, Turkey, Run!”

This is a great book to display teamwork and friendship. Bear wants to throw a feast for his friends but his cupboards are bare. His friends teach him that his best contribution are the stories he tells, not the food he has.

Turkey Trouble

If you haven’t heard of or read this book you’re missing out! Turkey decides to disguise himself in order to avoid becoming the main course at Thanksgiving dinner. It will give you and your students a good laugh for sure!

I loved this book so much I had my students create their own “turkey in disguise.” I sent a template of a turkey and a note home to parents to have the students create a disguise. I gave them a week to finish it and bring it back and I was amazed at their creativity!

I’ve put this activity together, which includes a bulletin board kit to display, in this fun resource for you to do with your class as well!
