Thanksgiving Writing Craft – Thanksgiving Creative Writing Prompts

Included in this download is a PDF file of:

• Brainstorm Pages (a.k.a. brain maps) – This helps your students work through their ideas on either the first Thanksgiving or what they are thankful for. I find that by using a brainstorm activity like this first, students come up with much better and unique ideas! You can choose between the blank circles or I have filled in prompts to help them come up with ideas.
• Practice Sentence Sheets – From the brainstorm I move to the practice sentences worksheet. This helps students go from one or two words to forming complete sentences with correct spelling and punctuation. Primary and regular lined included.
• Final Draft Writing Pages – Once their practice sentences look good, they can transfer those sentences onto their final draft paper. I’ve included regular and primary lined paper to match your students’ needs. There are also portrait and landscape page options included for each prompt.
• Pilgrim or Native American Toppers – Each student gets to choose which of the 4 toppers (male pilgrim, female pilgrim, male Native American, female Native American) they would like to color. Then they cut out their toppers and attach it to their final draft. These make perfect display pieces for your bulletin boards!
