Description

If you need to get your students writing creatively and want them engaged and inspired this spring, then this is the St. Patrick’s Day writing activity for you! They will love writing about life as a Leprechaun or what they would do with a pot of gold, and you’ll get a kick out of their responses! This March writing craftivity comes with scaffolding pages to make sure their writing is clear and organized. This activity is very low prep and looks great displayed! It’s a perfect activity to leave for a sub, and the completed crafts make a festive and fun bulletin board display too!

This is the perfect low-prep activity for March in your classroom! This resource works great for 1st through 4th grade classrooms, but can also be used with Kindergarten, 5th and 6th grade as well.

Included in this download is a PDF file of:

  • Writing Toppers – Students choose from 6 different craft toppers. Students color these, then cut them out and attach to their final draft pages for display.
  • Brainstorm Pages (a.k.a. brain maps) – This is to help your students work through their ideas for any of the writing prompts provided. I find that using a brainstorm activity like this first helps students come up with much better and unique ideas! Brainstorm pages with and without prompts are included!
  • Practice Sentence Sheets – From the brainstorm I move to the practice sentences worksheet. This helps students go from one or two words to forming complete sentences with correct spelling and punctuation. Primary and regular lined included.
  • Final Draft Writing Pages – Once students’ practice sentences look good, they can transfer those sentences onto their final draft paper. I’ve included regular and primary lined paper to match your students’ needs. These writing prompts are included in both portrait and landscape options. The following prompts are included:
“If I Turned Into A Leprechaun”
    “How to Catch A Leprechaun”
“If I Found A Pot of Gold”
    “I Am Lucky Because…”

  • “My students haven’t enjoyed any activity as much as they enjoyed this. Most of my students wrote 3+ paragraphs using this resource about what they’d do with a pot of gold or where they found their leprechaun. Such a FUN resource!!”
