7 Steps to Your Dream Classroom
Step 1: Make a Plan
As with most successful projects, you’ve got to start with a plan! This means deciding what zones you want to create, then planning out where they’ll go. In the Ultimate Classroom Design Guidebook, I include a helpful grid page for you to plan out and draw the layout of your classroom as you want it to be. There’s also an organizing worksheet included to plan out your classroom zones to-do list!
Step 2: Pick a Theme
Next, pick a theme! This can be one of the hardest parts of the whole process! I’ve included helpful tips and things to consider when picking a theme in the Guidebook. So be sure to check those out! You can also look through these classroom decor themes for inspiration!
Step 3: Customize Decor
There will always be certain customizations you’ll want to make to your classroom decor. Whether you’re adding students’ names to the desk name tags, using a specific font on your alphabet posters, or adding a new supply label for that one-of-a-kind organizational system you have! Each grade level has different needs as well, and perhaps you have items you’ll also want to translate into a different language. There are so many possibilities!
So, I’ve included a super helpful planning sheet in the Guidebook to help you stay organized and on track with your customizations. Also, be sure to check out these tips on how to edit classroom decor.
Step 4: Print Your Decor
Printing is often the BIGGEST question mark teachers have when it comes to updating their classroom decor. Can I print these from home? What paper should I use? Do I need to use a printing service? Check out these 5 tips for printing classroom decor for my best recommendations! And you can use the handy printing planning sheet in the Guidebook to help take the stress out of printing!
Step 5: Shop for Complimentary Decor
To really bring your classroom to life, add accent pieces and complimentary decor throughout your space! In the Guidebook, I share ideas on places you can shop for affordable items. And I even include a visual shopping guide to help you get started! Everything from my favorite bulletin board borders to storage solutions, throw pillows, and many things in between!
Step 6: Plan & Prep Bulletin Boards
Next, plan out your bulletin boards! Deciding what displays you want to create in your classroom, and where they’ll go, is so helpful! In the Guidebook, I include multiple suggestions of the types of displays you might want to create. And the Guidebook also includes bulletin board decorating tips that will help you save time and money throughout the year!
