I think going through a season change is a great time to make a few simple adjustments to your classroom atmosphere! Just making one or two simple updates can have a refreshing effect on your space. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Lighting can make all the difference in your classroom! Here are two easy lighting updates you can make in a flash! Add a few strands of tiny string lights for a magical feel. You could outline your windows or bookshelves with these lights, or hang them in certain spots to help designate different areas within your classroom. Or opt for some flameless candles for a calming effect. And you can get them with a remote so you can turn them all on/off with one press of a button!

Another great way to create a cozy, autumn ambiance in your space is to use seasonal scents! Obviously real candles aren’t a real option for school; but these plug in scents are a great alternative! Of course this is going to be a personal choice (since we all have preferences when it comes to scents and perfumes). But these Air Wick pumpkin spice plug in scents are a great fall option!

Practical Solutions for your Classroom this Fall

This may go without saying but… I’m gonna say it anyway. You need Command Strips in your life! They work great for hanging the obvious things (like picture frames, even wreaths). But what you may not have tried is using them to hang a string of banners in your classroom! This fall, I was helping my mom decorate her school library and we hung a banner across the front of her desk. It would NOT STAY put with any amount of tape or tack or anything else we tried.

Enter these Command Strip hooks. We put one hook on either end of her desk, tied the string of banners to each end, and done! Banner secure. You need these if you’re hanging things in your classroom. Period.

Another super handy item that I couldn’t do without when decorating is a staple remover. Seriously, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stapled a bulletin board letter (or several) into my board only to realize I need to move everything over a few (or several) inches. This tool makes it so painless to remove the staples, and it saves your finger nails in the process. Win-win.
